EMCOTE is a Controlled Release Fertilizer. EMCOTE nutrient release is not affected by pH, microbiological activity, soil type, organic matter in the soil, and soil moisture level, EMCOTE nutrient release is only affected by temperature in the soil. At higher soil temperatures, the release of EMCOTE nutrients will occur more quickly. Due to changes in soil temperature that are not too extreme, nutrient solubility becomes stable and does not cause poisoning in plants.
In the early stages, EMCOTE requires water to enter the granules. The nutrient solution will diffuse slowly and exit through the outer layer so that it can be absorbed by plants. The outermost layer (coating) is made of Polyolefin Resin and it is this layer that regulates the nutrients released from inside the granules.
